Summary: To operate over-the-road tractor trailer to deliver finished goods to customers and transport product/supplies to other divisions

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
" Loads or assists in loading trailer with materials. Unloads or assists in unloading trailer by using forklift or hand trucks
" Operates semi-truck with one or two trailers, according to state laws. Transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations
" Chocks rear wheels of truck or trailer before any unloading takes place. Removes chocks before driving away from shipping dock
" Obtains shipping bills of lading and necessary signatures and returns completed paperwork to shipping office. Maintains any related record required
" Perform pre and post trip inspections. Reports any maintenance malfunctions to the Transportation Manager
" May switch empty/full trailer in shipping yard on off-shifts for optimum loading patterns the following day
" Operate within 100 air miles
" Go off duty within 12 hours
" Report back to the same work location every day
" Have at least 10 consecutive hours off before starting their next on-duty period
" Never drive more than 11 hours, nor are they allowed to drive after having been on duty for 14 hours
" May not work over 60 hours and must take a 34 hour rest at the end of the 7th consecutive day
" Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
" Must be able to understand and deliver basic commands in English
" Must have basic math skills, use a calculator and read a tape measure
" Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment
" Valid state Class A CDL
" Tact and diplomacy in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points
" High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor trailer and in preventing damage to materials and trailer equipment
" Ability to sit in a trailer cab for long periods of time
" Ability to lift and move 40 lb wooden skid or pallet
" Must be able to meet the Department of Transportation's physical and medical requirements
" Ability to pass initial and on-going random substance abuse screenings.

Special skills required to perform job (machines, tools, equipment):
" Commercial Driver License and 2 years of CDL driving experience

" Understands that performing job tasks in a safe manner is the highest priority
" Has read and understands department JSA's
" Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines and wears appropriate PPE when required
" Fills out "near miss" paperwork on any unsafe condition or action and reports any unsafe condition or act immediately to supervisor or HSE department
" Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective areas of work or areas as directed by the department supervisor
" Cooperates and contributes to the creation of a safe, secure and healthy working environment and to the achievement of the company's environmental obligations and goals

Education required: High school diploma or GED
