Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, drills, milling machines.
Follows set-up sheet and applies any jigs or special attachments to perform the machining.
Checks machining operation against blueprints using precision measurement tools.
Edits set-up sheets with full details to be used on future setups to repeat the manufacturing process in a consistent manor.
Works with production to ensure adherence to production schedules.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media, as required.
Works under limited supervision.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
Must be attentive to detail, and experienced changing and calibrating tool wear as needed.
Must have an expert knowledge and considerable experience with a wide variety of materials used repetitively.
Must have a diverse, working knowledge in shop floor processes.
Demonstrated positive communication skills.
Ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum 5 years CNC Machinist experience.
Manual and shop supporting equipment experience required (sander, grinder, saw).
Requires knowledge of various types of metals.
Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs.
Potentially awkward handling of raw materials: positioning in machining equipment and transfer of material to and from lift carts
Frequent mental and visual attention is necessary. Work involves some likelihood of irregularity or difficulty.
