MATERIAL HANDLER /DRIVER

Provide accurate delivery of product to the customer within specified time frame;
Act as a customer service representative when dealing with customers;
Maintain and clean vehicles within established guidelines;
Perform warehouse duties
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of one year experience in a similar position is preferred;
Must be 21 years of age to meet auto insurance requirements.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Good personal communication skills;
Understanding of safe warehouse practices;
Understanding of common commercial construction jobsite practices;
Clean driving record and the ability to drive a range of vehicles, from small pick-up truck to 2-ton/5-speed flatbed diesel truck;
A good working knowledge of the area and ability to utilize road maps.
Must have the physical abilities to perform essential warehouse tasks;
Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. To a height of 3-4 feet and load product into trucks;
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time;
Ability to ascend/descend a ladder to pull or put away product from shelving and racking;
Ability to safely operate a forklift;
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Meet or exceed established standards for accuracy when receiving, stocking and/or picking inventory;
Unload delivery trucks and move inventory to designated areas;
Check in product using established warehouse procedures for receiving;
Pull product from inventory for orders using established warehouse procedures for picking;
Assist delivery personnel with loading and unloading of Acme and/or other delivery trucks;
Perform necessary activities to get products ready for delivery (note: may involve cutting, prepping and assembling of certain products);
Clean the warehouse and empty garbage cans into the dumpster as necessary to maintain a clean and safe working environment;
Create pre-planned routes for deliveries;
Check all delivery paperwork and orders for accuracy;
Inspect delivery vehicle for safety and proper maintenance before leaving premises for deliveries;
Review and check customer orders in coordination with person charged with receiving orders to ensure accuracy at the time of delivery. Make note of any discrepancies in customer order and report them back to Warehouse Manager and Order Writer;
Assist customers with any new orders or questions received on the jobsite and report them back to Warehouse Manager and/or Branch Manager;
Maintain log of deliveries for reporting to Warehouse Manager at the end of each delivery run;
Clean delivery vehicles whenever necessary and report any problems with the vehicle to Warehouse Manager;
Secure all loads on delivery vehicles;
Assist warehouse personnel with any tasks after deliveries are completed and no further deliveries are scheduled.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
Accurate stocking of inventory in designated area(s);
Accurate picking of inventory for shipment;
Accurate inventory control.
Report to Warehouse Manager.
This is a basic material handler position within the warehouse (construction tools etc) and will do occasional local deliveries to customers. Must be able to communicate with customers.
