Job Description

We are looking to fill a Metal Operations Supervisor position. This position is responsible for assisting the Metals Operations Manager in the supervision of all plant related activities by performing the following duties.

" Forklift and front end loader operator
" Employee Supervision
" Metals Buyer
" Computer skills - Excel, Word
" Math skills - Add, subtract, multiply and divide

Primary Duties:
.
" Maintains safe/efficient operation of all equipment including but not limited to, front-end loader and forklift.
" Moves products and/or materials in and out of the warehouse using forklift and/or front-end loader.
" Loads, unloads and coordinates the movement of trailers and/or trucks.
" Sets staffing levels, work schedules for all departments, and have enough employees to efficiently process material coming into the plant.
" Inspects the site conditions to ensure safety, cleanliness and organization daily
" Ensures all employees have appropriate safety equipment at all times.
" Organizes an inventory sheet of all grades in the warehouse/works with the staff to arrange shipping of material
" Plans incoming and outgoing shipments.
" Supervises the departments/plans material workflow.
" Acquires/maintains knowledge of all commodity grades in the plant.
" Examines, selects, and purchases material at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and supervises the metal buyers in purchasing.
" Assists with accident investigations as needed/assists law enforcement with theft policies.
" Completes incident reports/safety forms.
" Communicates employee issues to management/human resources.
" Recommends to management possible changes that may improve employee morale, productivity, and/or promote teamwork.
" Provides structure, discipline, and conflict resolution and rule enforcement.
" Reports equipment malfunctions/supervises maintenance crew in repair
" Assists customers in the buyback area when needed.
" Enters data into computer system including purchases/sales.
" Coordinates monthly safety meetings with the Safety and Health Coordinator
" Supervises data entry for scale buyers.
" Knowledge of or willing to learn the RIOS and R2 standards and help implement policies.
" Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and/or Skills:

" Ability to operate a forklift and front-end loader.
" Strong ability to perform multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast pace environment.
" Ability to maintain composure in a stressful work environment.
" Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
" Must be able to lift up to 49 lbs. Unassisted.
" Strong ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and accurately.
" Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
" Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.

Education:

" High school diploma or GED
" Two or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

" Directly supervises 10 to 15 employees in the Metals department.
" Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
" Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
