MAINTENANCE TECH
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician position is an indirect labor role within the operational structure, primarily focused on facility and capital equipment installation, and preventative and unscheduled maintenance of all facets of the facility including the upkeep and upgrades of the plant. This position requires a high degree of ownership and responsibility for managing time and materials to assure tasks and projects are conducted and completed timely and correctly.
This ownership also extends to recognizing and acting upon unscheduled and/or urgent related situations throughout the plant in order to effectively keep the plant in safe, top working condition with minimal or no supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Define, generate, and perform routine periodic preventative tasks to maintain equipment
Define and maintain comprehensive spare parts inventory to minimize downtime associated with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
Understand and follow preventative maintenance procedures as assigned to the department to assure consistent and reliable operation of critical equipment, and effectively respond to unscheduled repair tasks in timely manners as to minimize undue impact to scheduled production.
Establish a base of suppliers for parts (where necessary).
Manage outside contractor services, including project specifications, bids, and inspections of work completed.
Support and advise the process-engineering group on issues involving equipment, controls, monitoring and performance of processes.
Understand and be able to operate waste water management systems as back-up to the Waste Water Technician, following waste treatment procedures as directed by engineering to assure consistent and compliant storage, treatment, and discharge of all industrial wastes (liquids and solids), along with the generation and submittal of all associated records. Additionally, this position, when necessary as back-up, will be responsible for the storage, treatment, and discharge of all industrial wastes in a manner as to not cause undue impact to production cycles.
And other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
Qualifications:
Strong mechanical, electrical, and electronics aptitude skills.
Ability to design and install mechanical, electrical, and electronic controls.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical equipment.
A comprehensive understanding of production plant requirements with regards to filtration, compressed gases, heating / cooling systems, pumps, piping systems, robotic systems, pneumatics and hydraulics.
A comprehensive understanding of plant requirements with regards to process exhaust, supply air, lighting, and fire protection systems.
A strong knowledge of deionized water systems maintenance and monitoring / testing techniques.
Must possess strong reading, communication, and comprehension abilities. Must be able to read, comprehend, and generate internal documents such as work order travelers, SOPs, inventory records, HAZMAT regulations, state and local regulations, and maintain internal logs and general company records in a clear concise manner. Brainstorming and bringing new ideas to the table are an essential part of the job.

Willing and able to work non-production hours as necessary.
Must be able to multi task and work under stress
Must possess strong reading, communication, and comprehension abilities.
Must be able to generate and maintain regulatory reports, internal logs, and general company records in clear, concise manner.
Strong analytical and advanced mathematical skills are an essential element of the position.
Must possess strong database management skills, with good general computer and statistical reasoning abilities.
Employee has been (will be) trained and is to meet and assure that all safety requirements are followed while performing assigned duties within the plant. A good understanding and consistent use of appropriate PPE, basic maintenance safety regulations such as lock out/tag out policies, removing or repairing inadequate or potentially unsafe equipment, and to recognize unsafe practices that may be occurring within the plant environment and reporting same to operational staff are required.
Must be able to function well in an office environment. Must be able to perform in noisy, moist, or wet environments with standard protection devices. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding to perform essential tasks. Must be able to handle necessary tools to perform tasks, including a variety of meters, sensors, fluid and or air/gas monitors, and heavy equipment that will need to be towed or moved through the production environment with little assistance.
Must Pass Company required screening tests. Must be able to pass respirator health and fit testing. Must be in reasonably fit condition to climb tank ladders and ladders to lower level sump area in waste treatment areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach with hands and arms, and perform light lifting duties (up to 50 pounds) without assistance, push or pull heavy loads (up to 750 lbs) with basic material handling equipment, and perform walk throughs in production and service areas continuously
