Job Description
Job Overview: A Plate Roll Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining plate rolling machines used in the metal industry to bend or roll steel or other metal sheets into various shapes and sizes. The role involves reading blueprints, adjusting machine settings, ensuring quality control, and following safety protocols to produce components used in manufacturing, construction, or other industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Setup and Operation:
Set up and operate plate rolling machines to roll metal sheets and plates according to specified dimensions and tolerances.
Select appropriate rolling programs and machine settings based on work orders or blueprints.
Adjust machine settings such as pressure, speed, and roll alignment for optimal performance.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, or work orders to determine specifications and requirements.
Ensure compliance with design standards and client specifications.
Material Handling:
Load metal sheets or plates onto machines using cranes or other lifting devices.
Safely manage and position heavy materials for rolling processes.
Quality Assurance:
Monitor the rolling process to detect any irregularities or deviations.
Inspect completed products for accuracy, dimensions, and quality standards.
Make necessary adjustments to ensure finished products meet required specifications.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure smooth operation and minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and collaborate with maintenance teams for complex repairs.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure operational safety.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training in metalworking or manufacturing preferred).
2+ years of experience as a plate roll operator or in a similar metalworking role.
Strong understanding of metal properties, rolling processes, and related machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and work orders.
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in an industrial setting.
Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and operate machinery.

Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
