Job Description
This position welds a variety of steel products, following prescribed methods and using generally predetermined settings. Handles and positions materials in existing fixtures. This position performs all functions of welding, ensuring safety, quality and productivity.
Essential Job Functions
Follow company standards, policies and objectives.
Proficiency with MIG welding for both stainless and mild steel materials.
Ability to weld unfamiliar parts using only a full scale drawing.
Fabricate directly from drawings, samples, or instructions without supervision.
Inspect finished product to ensure accuracy.
Communicate with other departments as necessary.
Maintains general housekeeping for work area.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required
Knowledge of weld equipment and ability to adjust and solve problems as needed.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to do basic math, including decimals and percentages.
Must be able to adjust weld machine as necessary.
Must be able to work independently.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must have working knowledge of common materials.
Must have general knowledge of pre-determined, routine procedures to include loading and unloading of parts in machines, part inspection, blueprint reading, full scale drawing use and knowledge of inspection tool use.
Education and Experience Required
At least one year of experience welding. MIG/TIG preferred.
Must successfully complete a weld test as part of the screening process.
Physical Requirements
Performing these duties will involve lifting, pulling, or pushing physical objects; standing, stooping and bending, walking and standing for long periods of time.
Continuous mental and visual attention is required.
Requires constant alertness and attention to detail.
Work involves likelihood of irregularity of work schedule and/or overtime to meet customer demands.
